It's one week away! Our Colorado families and students will meet at Boondocks for a pizza party and an exciting game of galactic laser tag! I can't wait to see you there. Please RSVP, and invite your friends to join us too!...

I also encourage each parent to hold weekly synchros with your student! What is a parent-student synchro? This meeting is where you and your unique LACO student discuss progress, assignments, and accomplishments. Please find tidbits of best practices for synchros in our LACO Parent and Student Handbook under the Parent Resources section. Here is the link. As always, please reach out if you have questions or concerns about your student's progress.

I am grateful to be a part of Leadership Academy of Colorado and to work with you and your family!

Cynthia Cox, LACO Executive Director

Action Items

Asking for input on a change to our school calendar: Would you like it if our school year started a week later in August and ended a week later in May? We’re considering making this change to our school calendar, and we’d like your input! Please take 30 seconds to share your preference with us through this short survey. (This change would take effect next August for the 2023-24 school year, as shown in this draft of next year’s academic calendar.)

Please use this form to excuse student absences: LACO students are required to log in each day to Canvas, so please remember to complete the Absence Request Form if your student is unable to log in or attend class for three or more days in a row (for shorter absences, please notify your student’s mentors via SIS). The State of Colorado considers a student truant if they have four unexcused absences in a month or 10 in a school year. You may excuse past absences using the same methods mentioned above.

Register for LACO’s Laser Tag and Pizza! This exciting galactic space adventure is happening on Friday, November 11, from 1:00-3:00 PM. You won’t want to miss our team-building laser action game at Boondocks, located at 11425 Community Center Drive, Northglenn, Colorado. Families and friends eat free, and laser tag is free for LACO students. Please RSVP here. Please invite family and friends!

Please fill out the Impact Aid Form (Parents or guardians living or working on federal property or active military service members): Please read this information regarding Impact Aid and complete this form if it applies to you. Send completed forms to cynthia@williamsburglearning.com.

LACO’s Premier Tech Support from Lenovo: What should you do if your student’s laptop screen breaks, has water damage, or some other mishap hurts your student’s LACO laptop? Call 855-669-3600, and someone will come to your home and fix their computer! It’s part of LACO’s Premier Tech Support, available for those with LACO laptops. Should your LACO laptop have issues with passwords or logging in, please reach out to Heidi Shetka at heidi@williamsburglearning.com, and she is happy to help.

CogAT Assessments: To help identify students who qualify for Gifted and Talented services, we are administering the CogAT to all 6th-grade students on Thursday, November 17, at 2:00 PM. Please stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
